Award-Winning Preservation
Cork Factory Hotel has been deliberately reused to become a unique upscale hotel in the City of Lancaster, PA. With a long tradition in the Lancaster community, the buildings of the Cork Factory Hotel were built in 1865 for Lancaster Cork Works and were later home to Armstrong Cork Company and Kerr Glass Company.
The Lancaster County Planning Commission granted Urban Place the Smart Growth Leadership Award for Large projects within the heritage category in 2007, and The Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County recently granted Urban Place the Preservation Leadership Award for restoring the abandoned historic cork factory into a hip mixed-use community.
